Welcome to Bear Island Kingdome, a premier glamping dome site that grew from a passion and appreciation of needing to disconnect and be at true peace. We are situated on eleven beautiful acres of forested private land in Bear Island, New Brunswick adjacent to the majestic and historical Saint John River. Each dome and every visit here provides a unique one of a kind experience be it your first swim in a fresh water lake, listening to the birds signing in your own private hot tub, paddle boarding, fishing a world class lake, sailing, cleaning the sand from the nearby beach, watching magnificent sunsets over the water, skiing the local hill, your best round of golf at the Championship Golf course, a TreeGO adventure, whatever the experience we encourage and invite you to find it here with us at Bear Island Kingdome.
The site will feature a mix of geodesic glamping domes and cottages that will provide a luxurious stay while immersed in nature, having most of the amenities of home. Bear Island Kingdome is scheduled to open in multiple phases initially offering 3 geodesic dome rentals adding 1 more in 2023 plus 5 executive cottages starting in 2024.
The reason this location was chosen is so guests could have full outdoor enjoyment in both summer and winter activities with our unique back to nature experience. This area of the Saint John River was voted #34 in the world for multi species fishing and is considered one of the “world’s” premier boating destinations by Sail World with its famous fall colours, water depth, safety, and serenity.
The natural slope of the property provides uninterrupted views of the water, and all domes and cottages have water access. Within 18 kms (11 miles), you will find a fire station, medical clinic, police station, full service grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store, the Nackawic Marina and Big Axe Craft Brewery. Within a 30km (20 mile radius) you will have access to Crabbe Mountain ski hill with a long 2km run, a sail boat club, maple syrup camp and local farm experiences. You will also find the Mactaquac Provincial Park where you will be able to go golfing, swim at a freshwater Beach, go on a TreeGo zip line adventure, hike, snowshoe, skate, go cross country skiing or even rent a fat bike to explore the trails.
After a long day of adventure, you can come back to relax in your own private hot tub or at our common fire pit area where you can sit down to enjoy the sunset overlooking the river, while roasting marshmallows, making s’mores, spider dogs, or sipping a local craft beverage.
Inside each dome our guest will find a panoramic full height window facing the beautiful view of the Saint John River and sunsets, a king and queen size bed, linens, blankets, towels, private bathroom with indoor toilet, vanity, shower, functional kitchen with sink, cook top, fridge, coffee maker, plates, cookware, glasses, utensils, sitting / eating area, yoga mats, forced air heating and cooling for your comfort. Outside, guest will have a private deck with an electric hot tub and a BBQ cooking area. There is parking available for one vehicle at each dome site.
The domes can accommodate up to 4 people and we have cellular reception and wifi at the site. We currently have two pet friendly domes. Please make sure you pick the right one for you at booking.
We have stand up paddle boards, kayaks, fishing gear, snowshoes, fondue kits and movie projectors available for rental on a first come first served basis. Please let us know if you have any special requests and we will do our best to accommodate to make your stay memorable.
